We are now carrying art prints in the shop. The brilliant Jennifer Judd-McGee (of Swallowfield) started the whole thing, and everyone keeps asking for more...so we are doing our best to bring you high quality, unique prints from some amazing artists.

Here is what she has to say about her yarn:

Our yarns are all handspun from high quality, handpainted fibers. Yarn weight, fiber content, yard quantity and other specifics are listed with each individual yarn. All yarns are carefully handwashed before they appear in the yarn shop. Please note that colors may vary a tiny bit from monitor to monitor. We hope that our handspun yarns will inspire and enhance your fiber creations. Have fun creating!

five and a half journals

I absolutely love journals, cannot seem to get enough either for myself or for the shop. I have loved the journals over at Five and a Half for a very long time. Well, they are finally lining the shelves here at Edith and Edna.

Here is a little information about them and their awesome journals, taken from their website:

Five and a Half is a Brooklyn-based bookmaking and design studio that I started in the spring of 2006, when I began creating a line of journals that are functional, lightweight, and made with sustainable materials.

Each journal is filled with pages of sugarcane fiber and postconsumer recycled paper, a textweight surface that is ideal for writing, drawing, and painting, while leaving the planet's dwindling supply of trees untouched. There are useful details present in each journal ~ an inner pocket for looseleaf notes, and a perfect-bound spine so that each book opens flat for writing and drawing across the pages. The cover designs are made in limited editions, featuring original illustrations or photography.

Light and functional, each handmade journal is filled with 3 shades of sugarcane and recycled text weight paper in cream, white and tan; a resilient spine that opens flat for writing and drawing across pages; and an envelope-style inner pocket.

Over the Raindough is back in stock!! We love the philosophy behind this company. Here is a little bit about them I took from their website:

Over the Raindough is a family-owned company operating out of America's Heartland in Kansas City.

Our love for modeling dough comes from our kids, but we didn't like the look and smell of the other brands, and we set out to make something better.

Because our kids have some external food and environmental allergies, we wanted our modeling dough to be as pure and natural as possible.

We have always been big supporters of organic products, from the food we eat to the beds we sleep on. So we made a commitment to use only the most wholesome and natural organic ingredients available. Our products cost more to produce, but we feel it's worth it. Our priority is to protect our children's future by making the world a healthier and more inviting place to play!

We couldn't agree more. I can tell you that my seven year old (who also happens to be wearing the moniker smiley shirt, which are also back in stock) loves the dough. She says, "It smells so good! And I like the way it feels."

So all scents are back in stock, and are now downstairs in our children's corner.

 

coco & milkweed

Coco & Milkweed arrived today! I first heard about this cool company from Coco's Nona. It all started when she came into the shop (I think she lives in or near Portland) and said I had to go to their website immediately. Such wonderful designs, and many of the shirts are organic. They have things for infants, toddlers, Men and Women. So thank you, Coco's Nona, for telling me about them. And thank you, Coco & Milkweed, for having such cool stuff!

Our new order from Dovetail arrived this week! Everything that Maggie & Josh create is just wonderful. Their new bicycle line is sure to be a big hit.
